Officer Hit When man runs red light
A Baltimore County Officer was hospitalized this morning after his car was hit by a man running a red light in Randallstown, police say.
The crash happened at around 6:25 a.m. at the intersection of Winands and McDonough Roads.
The officer was entering the intersection on a green light in his department issued Jeep Cherokee when a man driving a Toyota Camry ran the red light and hit the officer, says Corporal Mike Hill, spokesperson for the Baltimore County Police Department.
The officer’s vehicle overturned, landing on its side. The fire department had to pull the officer out of his car. He was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center with minor injuries.
Corporal Hill says the officer has over 20 years of experience and currently works for the Franklin Precinct.
Charges are pending against the driver of the Camry.
